Journey to Adulthood (J2A) is a two year spiritual formation program for youth, focused on spirituality, society, sexuality and self. It is used by hundreds of Episcopal parishes across the country. During the program, teens learn and practice six basic skills of adulthood: active listening, negotiation, assertion, research & information management, partnership and leadership, while learning basics of the faith. The end of the second year is marked by the group designing and going on a Holy Pilgrimage.
We are partnering with St. Dunstan’s in Carmel Valley to bring J2A to our youth at St. Mary’s. To honor the autonomy of the youth, parents and relatives cannot be leaders, so we are seeking parishioners that are interested in being a part of this adventure! We are seeking 3-4 adults from each church who will share the leader responsibilities. We are thinking the group will meet every other week, alternating locations and leaders. Please contact Pastor Kristine with any questions, or to express your interest (teens and adult leaders). There will be a joint informational meeting for all those interested before you would commit to being a leader.
