Recent times have been a challenge. Many have felt anxious, uncertain, discouraged, or fearful. As Christians, how do we cope? Members of the Order of St. Luke find that reassurance is to be found in Holy Scripture, in prayer, and in trusting the Lord. Proverbs 3:5—Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. Romans 12:2–Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Be constant, rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, and devoted to prayer. Psalm 51:10—Create in me a new heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
To hear God, get near God.
Although in our ministry prayer requests are confidential, sometimes folks give us permission to share their experiences. Some months ago, a community organizer in Minneapolis, Minnesota had become discouraged, and contacted OSL during one of our conferences, to ask for prayers; we called to the Lord on his behalf. A day later he called back to say that he had made a decision, to continue the work among the disenfranchised in the inner-city, having felt strengthened to go on with his mission work. Thanks be to God.
As we go forward into this new year, may we find solace, restoration, and healing, as we seek to serve God, following in the way Jesus taught.
Blessings and love,
