As the stewardship committee has been working on reimagining stewardship at St. Mary’s, we found ourselves asking “stewardship of what?” We heard this as God’s call into deeper work – work on understanding who we are and what God is calling us to do in this time and place, so that all of us at St. Mary’s might be energized by this renewed vision. We met with the Vestry on June 15, and they agreed that this is properly the work of the whole congregation. We hope that many of you will join us.

To begin, we are assembling a core group of individuals to actively engage in reading, conversation, sharing and transformation, as we dive deeply in this important exploration of our mission. This core group will provide leadership and vision to engage our entire church community in this conversation.

Our first organizational Zoom meeting is set for July 5, from 2:00 – 3:30 PM, and we will be kicking off with a discussion of an article called “The Liturgy of Abundance, the Myth of Scarcity,” by Walter Bruggemann, copy available upon request.  We will also be exploring the concepts in a book called Making the Annual Pledge Drive Obsolete by Timothy Dombek and Michael Durall, in future meetings.
