Labyrinth Project Begins July 7th

We are pleased to announce that the Labyrinth Project has been approved by the city and we have arranged for a masonry contractor to begin phase 1 of the project. Below is a schedule of the construction and a brief summary of the scope of work.

Construction Schedule

Start Date: Monday, July 7, 2025

During the weeks of July 7 and July 14, the contractor will perform demolition, site grading, and concrete and drainage installation. The front yard will be closed for construction, including both walkways from Central Avenue, as well as the access to the bookstore. Access to the Church, and to Clay and Edwards Halls will be from the entrances on 12th Street and 13th Street. The Bookstore will be closed during those two weeks.

During the last week in July and the first week in August, the contractor will be installing the permeable pavers and the Labyrinth pavers. The front yard will remain closed to the public.

Construction is anticipated to be complete in August, no later than August 29th.

The landscape portion of the project is not included in Phase 1. Irrigation and plantings will be installed under a later phase.

Scope of Work in Phase One (Hardscape):

Demolish and remove all site paving, shrubs, and ground cover, and irrigation lines within the limits of the demolition boundary.

Furnish and install Cast-In-Place concrete walkways and seatwall. Furnish and install permeable interlocking concrete pavers, “Mission” style by Basalite, herringbone pattern.

Install Labyrinth Pavers (on site). The Labyrinth design shall be Chartres Vision Quest. The Labyrinth Pavers are factory cut to form a 29’-6” diameter labyrinth pattern.

Additional Scope: (not shown on plans) Remove and replace approximately 85 LF of existing 4” drain line from the drain inlet in front of the Bookstore to the City drain line which connects to the catch basin at 13th Street.
